  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 bag (10 oz) marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter Use unsalted for better flavor control.
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree Canned or homemade.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional Garnish

  • to taste brown sugar For sprinkling on top.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
  • Once melted, add the entire bag of marshmallows, stirring continually until they’re completely melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and salt until well combined.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat, and gradually fold in the Rice Krispies cereal.
  • Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and pat down evenly.
  • Let the treats cool at room temperature for about an hour, then cut into squares.

Notes

Feel free to substitute pumpkin puree with sweet potato puree or add chocolate chips for a unique twist. Avoid high heat when melting marshmallows to prevent burning.
