Ingredients
  

Cheese and Coating

  • 12 oz mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Italian or Panko works best for crunch!
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying Enough to cover the bottom of the pan

Preparation

  • Start by cutting your mozzarella sticks in half to create smaller, dippable pieces (if desired!). This also helps them cook more evenly.
  • In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, beat the two eggs. In a third bowl, mix your breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • First, take a mozzarella stick and coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, making sure it’s evenly coated. Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully covered. Repeat this process until all cheese sticks are prepared.
  • Place the dredged sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and chill them in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.

Frying

  • In a large pan, pour enough oil to cover the bottom and heat over medium heat until hot.
  • Carefully add the chilled mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once cooked, place them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

Chill the coated mozzarella sticks before frying to prevent cheese from oozing out. Ensure oil is at the right temperature and avoid overcrowding the pan.
