Ingredients
  

For the Quiche

  • 1 9-inch pre-made pie crust You can also make a homemade crust.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese Swiss or cheddar can be used as alternatives.
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion Sauté until soft.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg Optional.
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it gently to fit. Prick the bottom with a fork.
  • Sauté the chopped onions over medium heat until they’re soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and whole milk until well combined. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  • Stir in the sautéed onions, shredded Gruyère cheese, and chopped chives into the custard mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared crust and bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is set and lightly golden.
  • Allow the quiche to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Pair with a green salad dressed with lemon vinaigrette or enjoy with fresh fruit.
