  • 1 whole beef brisket (5-7 pounds) Choose a brisket that suits your size preference
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth This helps keep the brisket moist
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Ensure it’s halal

Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Trim any excess fat from the brisket, leaving a little for juiciness.
  • In a bowl, combine minced garlic, chopped onion, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, cumin, and chili powder. Rub this mixture all over the brisket.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned brisket in a roasting pan and pour the beef broth into the pan.
  • Cover the roasting pan tightly with foil and bake for approximately 4-5 hours until fork-tender.
  • Once finished, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for about 30 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice against the grain and serve with barbecue sauce and your favorite sides.

Notes

For best results, allow the brisket to rest after cooking to retain juices. Store leftovers wrapped tightly and reheat gently to maintain moisture.
