Ingredients

Beef and Marinade

  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Vegetables

  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 cup scallions, chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For cooking
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by slicing your beef into thin strips against the grain.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes.

Cooking

  • In a large wok or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  • Add the marinated beef to the hot pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes or until it’s browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
  • In the same pan, add a little more oil if necessary, then toss in the sliced onions. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes until they become translucent.
  • Add the minced garlic, scallions, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Return the beef to the pan and toss everything together, ensuring the beef is heated through and the onions and scallions are tender, about 2-3 minutes more.
  • Remove from heat, adjust seasoning if necessary, and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days. To reheat, warm in a pan or microwave briefly.
