Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet Instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup warm milk
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg

For the Filling

  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter (softened)

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

Make the Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix together the warm milk, melted butter, and sugar. Add the yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  • Next, add the egg and salt, mixing well.

Combine the Ingredients

  • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Rise the Dough

  • Place the kneaded dough back in the bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and allow it to rise in a warm area for about 20-30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling

  • While your dough is rising, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Set aside.

Roll it Out

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle on a floured surface.

Spread Butter and Sugar

  • Spread the softened butter evenly across the dough, leaving a small border.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered surface.

Roll and Cut

  • Carefully roll the dough from the long side into a tight log.
  • Cut the log into 1-inch slices and place them in a greased baking dish.

Final Rise

  • Cover your rolls with a cloth, letting them rise for another 20 minutes.

Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Prepare the Glaze

  • Mix the powdered sugar with milk and vanilla extract (if using) in a small bowl until smooth.

Drizzle and Serve

  • Once baked, let the rolls cool for a few minutes.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy!
