Ingredients

  • 1 cup 125g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup 100g granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup 50g brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup 30g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup 120ml buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar)
  • 1/2 cup 120ml vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup 120ml hot water or hot coffee
  • 12 tsp Nutella to stuff inside
  • For the Nutella Buttercream:
  • 1 cup 225g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups 180g powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup 150g Nutella
  • 2 –3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • For Topping:
  • Kinder Bueno pieces
  • Chocolate drizzle optional
  • Extra Nutella optional core or drizzle

Instructions

  • Prepare the Oven and Cupcake Tray: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tray with cupcake liners.
  • Make the Cupcake Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, mix together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients, then slowly stir in the hot water or coffee. Mix until the batter is smooth.
  • Fill the Cupcake Liners: Fill each cupcake liner halfway with the batter. Add about 1 tsp of Nutella in the center of each cupcake, then top with more batter until the liners are about 3/4 full.
  • Bake: Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted (away from the Nutella center) comes out clean. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely.
  • Make the Nutella Buttercream: Beat the softened butter for 2–3 minutes until it’s fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating after each addition. Mix in Nutella, salt, and heavy cream until the frosting is light and fluffy. Add more cream if you prefer a softer texture.
  • Assemble & Decorate: Once the cupcakes are completely cool, pipe the Nutella buttercream on top using a piping bag. Garnish with Kinder Bueno pieces and drizzle melted chocolate or additional Nutella if desired. For an extra treat, you can core the cupcakes and fill them with even more Nutella for a gooey surprise!
  • What to Serve Nutella Bueno Cupcakes With
  • These Nutella Bueno Cupcakes are truly the star of any dessert table, but they can shine even brighter when paired with some delightful accompaniments. Consider serving them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream to balance the rich chocolate flavor. A glass of cold milk makes for a classic pairing, perfect for dunking those cupcakes if you dare! Want to take it a step further? Try serving them alongside a rich coffee or espresso to enhance those decadent chocolate notes. The possibilities are endless!
  • Top Tips for Perfecting Nutella Bueno Cupcakes
  • Chill the Nutella: Slightly chilling your Nutella before filling the cupcakes can make it much easier to portion out and stuff into the batter.
  • Don’t Overmix: Be careful not to overmix the cupcake batter after adding wet and dry ingredients; doing so may lead to dense cupcakes.
  • Testing for Doneness: If unsure whether the cupcakes are done, remember that you want the toothpick to come out clean, but avoid inserting it too close to the Nutella center.
  • Add Texture: For some extra crunch, consider folding in chopped hazelnuts or adding pieces of Kinder Bueno to the batter or as a topping.
  • Storing and Reheating Tips
  • Leftover Nutella Bueno Cupcakes can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, but they’re best enjoyed fresh. If you’d like to keep them longer, you can refrigerate them for up to a week. For extended storage, freeze them in an airtight container, where they’ll last for about three months. To reheat a cupcake, simply pop it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds; the heat will revive its moistness and make the Nutella deliciously gooey once again.
  • Dive into the world of Nutella Bueno Cupcakes and bring joy to your kitchen and your taste buds! These rich, indulgent treats are a perfect way to share a bit of sweetness with loved ones. Happy baking!
