  • 1 cup marinara sauce (sugar-free)
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a baking dish. Sprinkle garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper evenly over the chicken.
  • Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Baking

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Serving

  • Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving.
  • If desired, sprinkle fresh basil or parsley on top for garnish.

Notes

For additional flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Swap marinara for a low-carb sauce or use different cheeses, like provolone or Gruyère. Monitor baking time to prevent dark cheese.
