  • 1.5 lbs ground turkey Use lean ground turkey for best results.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs You can substitute with crushed crackers or oats.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup marinara sauce Plus more for glazing.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 1 small onion Finely chopped.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil Chopped.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano Chopped.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, marinara sauce, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix by hand until combined.
  • Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a greased baking dish.
  • Brush an extra layer of marinara sauce over the top for added flavor and moisture.
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes.
  • Remove from oven, sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top, and return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing to keep it from falling apart.

Notes

When storing leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For longer storage, slice and freeze individual portions for up to three months.
