Cuisine Italian
- 1 lb pizza dough store-bought or homemade
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup pepperoni sliced
- ½ cup Italian sausage cooked, ground
- ¼ cup bell peppers sliced, any color
- ¼ cup mushrooms sliced
- 1 egg for egg wash
- ½ cup marinara sauce for dipping
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, approximately ¼ inch thick.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly across the rolled dough, leaving a small border around the edges, then layer with pepperoni, cooked Italian sausage, bell peppers, and mushrooms.
Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough away from you, tucking in the fillings as you go, then pinch the edges together to seal.
Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, beat the egg and brush it over the surface of the Stromboli for a golden finish.
Using a sharp knife, make a few diagonal slits on top of the rolled dough to allow steam to escape.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the Stromboli is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing, then serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
