Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (or regular milk) Can substitute with regular milk and vinegar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Fruits

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen, thawed and drained) Ensure frozen blueberries are well-thawed and drained

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, combine the sugar and melted butter. Mix well, then add buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. It's okay if there are a few lumps.
  • Carefully fold in the blueberries, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  • Pour the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • Enjoy the donuts as is or top with your favorite glaze or toppings.

Notes

Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
