  • 1 cup raw or roasted, unsalted nuts (like almonds, cashews, or pecans)
  • 3 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter (or a halal alternative)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (ensure it’s halal)
  • 1 pinch salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melting the Sugar

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, brown sugar, butter, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until everything melts and the mixture starts to bubble.

Add Vanilla

  • Once the mixture is bubbling, remove it from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Mix in Nuts and Cereal

  • In a large bowl, combine the crispy rice cereal and nuts. Pour the melted sugar mixture over the cereal and nuts, stirring gently until evenly coated.

Spread and Bake

  • Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, pressing down slightly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool and Enjoy

  • Allow it to cool for a few minutes before breaking it into pieces. Let it cool completely to achieve the crunch factor before enjoying!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for about a month. Add dried fruits, coconut flakes, or halal chocolate chips for extra flavor.
