  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch To thicken the sauce at the end.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For sautéing the beef.
  • to taste salt and pepper For seasoning the beef.
  • 1 cup beef broth Helps to cook the beef evenly.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Prepare the Instant Pot: Start by adding 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the Instant Pot and set it to the 'Sauté' function. Once hot, add the thinly sliced beef sirloin. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and brown it for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Give it a good mix. Pour this sauce over the browned beef in the pot.
  • Add the Broth: Add 1 cup of beef broth to the pot. Make sure the beef is submerged in the liquid to ensure even cooking.

Cooking

  • Secure the lid of the Instant Pot and ensure the valve is set to 'Sealing.' Select 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
  • Release Pressure: When cooking is complete, carefully perform a quick release by turning the valve to 'Venting.'
  • Add Broccoli: Once the pressure has released, open the lid and stir in the broccoli florets.
  • Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to create a slurry. Stir this into the pot and select the 'Sauté' function again to allow the sauce to thicken for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve: Once the sauce has thickened and the broccoli is tender yet crisp, serve hot over rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to a month. To reheat, microwave or gently heat on the stove, adding broth or water if needed to adjust consistency.
