Ingredients
  

For the bread

  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons yeast Ensure yeast is fresh and active.
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour See notes for gluten-free alternatives.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. This indicates your yeast is active.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the salt and flour. Gradually add this mixture to the yeast mixture.
  • Stir gently until all ingredients come together. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. If the dough sticks to your hands, sprinkle a little extra flour.
  • Place your kneaded dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Shape it into a loaf or any desired form and place it into a greased loaf pan.
  • Cover it again with the towel and allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
  • While the dough rises, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • When ready, bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the bread has a golden-brown crust and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

To store, wrap the bread tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. It can be kept at room temperature for 2-3 days or refrigerated for about a week. For longer storage, slice and freeze the bread. Reheat at 350°F for 10 minutes when ready to enjoy.
