Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 3.5 to 4 cups all-purpose flour Start with 3 ½ cups and adjust as necessary.
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F) Ensure it's warm but not hot.
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted Brush extra melted butter on top before baking.
  • 1 large egg Can use an egg wash for a shinier finish.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional) For sprinkling on top before baking.

Instructions
 

Mixing the Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 ½ cups of flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry mixture.

Kneading the Dough

  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes, adding more flour as necessary until the dough is smooth and elastic.

First Rise

  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

Shaping the Buns

  • Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 10 equal pieces.
  • Shape each piece into a round ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced about 2 inches apart.

Second Rise

  • Cover the formed buns with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes, until puffy.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow the buns to cool on a wire rack.
  • Slice them open and fill with your favorite burger fixings!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about 2-3 days or freeze for up to three months. To enjoy, thaw at room temperature and warm in the oven.
