Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar plus an additional ½ cup for topping
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy release.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon until well combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg. Then add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Gently stir until just combined; it’s okay if a few lumps remain.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Finishing Touches

  • While the bread bakes, mix the remaining ½ cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Once the bread is baked, let it cool for about 10 minutes in the pan, then remove it. While it’s still warm, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar topping generously over the top.
  • Slice your delicious cinnamon donut bread and serve it warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Serve with cream cheese frosting or peanut butter. Pairs well with coffee or vanilla chai tea. Can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
