Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 can white beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth (halal)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

Cooking Instructions

  • In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the ground turkey to the pot. Cook until it’s browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, around 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional minute to enhance the flavors.
  • Pour in the diced tomatoes and chicken broth. Bring this mixture to a slight boil, then reduce the heat, allowing it to simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Stir in the white beans and cook for another 5 minutes. Check the seasoning and adjust if necessary.
  • Ladle the chili into bowls and top with diced avocado. Add any other toppings you love, such as fresh herbs or a squeeze of lime.

Notes

For maximum flavor, try to let the chili simmer longer if you have the time; the longer it simmers, the better it tastes! Avoid overcooking the avocado by adding it just before serving. This recipe stores well in the fridge for up to 4 days and freezes beautifully.
