  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced Choose between flank steak or sirloin for tenderness.
  • 3 cups broccoli florets Fresh broccoli is preferred for optimal crunch.
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar or honey Brown sugar can be used for a richer flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Used for thickening the sauce.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Add for a nutty flavor in the sauce.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust based on personal preference.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Slice the flank steak or sirloin into thin strips.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar (or honey), cornstarch, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  • Place the sliced beef in the bottom of the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it, ensuring it's evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for about 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, add the broccoli florets to the slow cooker, stir them gently into the sauce, and cover again.

Serving

  • Once everything is cooked, give it a gentle stir and serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

For a well-rounded meal, serve over steamed jasmine or brown rice and pair with a cucumber salad for a refreshing side.
