  • 1 cup grated zucchini Finely grated for less visibility in the bread.
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup Natural sweeteners.
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce Adds moisture.
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour For a healthier base.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Gives the bread its chocolate flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional, for extra chocolate flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated zucchini, honey (or maple syrup), applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well-blended.

Mixing

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice and enjoy!

Notes
