Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Look for bananas with brown spots for maximum sweetness.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour Be careful not to overmix.

Flavor Enhancers

  • ½ cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • ½ cup chopped macadamia nuts Toast briefly for enhanced flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
  • Add in the melted butter, sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  • Sprinkle the baking soda and salt into the mixture, then mix in the all-purpose flour until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the coconut flakes and macadamia nuts until evenly dispersed.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

You can serve Hawaiian Banana Bread with a tropical fruit salad, Hawaiian coffee, or spread cream cheese on top for an indulgent twist.
