Main Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf large loaf of crusty bread (like Italian or French) Choose a sturdy loaf.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Can substitute with other cheese varieties.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup butter, melted For mixing with garlic.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor.

  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust to preference.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the loaf of bread on a cutting board. Using a serrated knife, make deep cuts into the bread, about 1-inch apart, making sure to stop about 1 inch from the bottom so the loaf remains intact.
  • In a bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Add half of the cheeses, mixing well.
  • Carefully open the slices of the bread and drizzle or brush the butter mixture between the cuts.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese and fresh herbs generously on top and between the slices.
  • Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, then open the foil to allow the top to crisp for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and then serve while it's hot and gooey.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for about 1-2 days. To reheat, place back in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
