Ingredients
  

For the Bites

  • 2 cups frozen hash browns (thawed and drained)
  • 1 pound Halal beef sausage (crumbled)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 2 pieces green onions (sliced)
  • 1 piece egg (beaten)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • for frying tablespoons olive oil

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, crumbled beef sausage, shredded cheese, sliced green onions, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well until fully incorporated.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, add a few tablespoons of olive oil and heat over medium heat.
  • Using your hands, take small portions (about 2 tablespoons) of the mixture and shape them into bite-sized patties.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once cooked, place the bites on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  • Transfer to a serving plate, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Notes

Substitutions: You can replace the beef sausage with turkey sausage or a plant-based sausage. Make sure to preheat your skillet adequately for a crispy exterior. Squeeze out excess moisture from hash browns if too wet for better crispiness.
