Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for best results.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Yellow or white onions work well.
  • 1 cup beef broth Low-sodium broth is preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons flour For thickening the gravy.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper Adjust to personal preference.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Or cooking oil of your choice.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.

Cooking

  • Once the oil is hot, place the patties in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle flour over the onions and combine well.
  • Gradually pour in the beef broth, whisking to avoid lumps. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce. Allow the gravy to simmer and thicken for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Return the cooked patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors together.

Serving

  • Remove from heat and serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.

Notes

Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Freeze without gravy for up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of broth to retain moisture.
