  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup nut butter (peanut butter or almond butter) You can use sunflower butter for nut allergies.

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2-3 tablespoons water Adjust to reach desired consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Drain and rinse your can of chickpeas thoroughly to remove any excess sodium or canning liquid.
  • In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, cocoa powder, nut butter, honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Start blending the mixture. Add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired creamy and smooth consistency.
  • After blending, give it a quick taste. If you want it sweeter, feel free to add more honey or maple syrup.
  • Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Notes

This hummus pairs beautifully with fresh fruits, pretzels, or graham crackers. For a fun twist, spread it on whole-grain toast for breakfast. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze in small portions.
