  • 6 slices slices of soft white or whole grain bread, crusts removed
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese, or a mix of both for extra flavor
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter, for grilling

Preparation

  • Carefully trim the crusts off the slices of bread to make rolling easier.
  • Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread gently.
  • Place a generous amount of shredded cheese along one edge of each slice, leaving a little space at the ends.
  • Carefully roll the bread over the cheese, tucking in the cheese to create a tight roll.
  • Spread softened butter over the outside of each roll.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Place the rolls seam-side down in the skillet and grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melting.
  • Once golden and crispy, remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For an extra crispy texture, consider adding breadcrumbs to the buttered outside before grilling. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 days and reheat in a skillet or air fryer.
