Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed coffee (cooled) Use a strong brew or espresso for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened) Ensure it is softened at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Finishing Touches

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade; adjust amount to taste.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and sugar. Mix until creamy. Add in the eggs and beat until well incorporated. Introduce the cooled brewed coffee and vanilla extract into the mixture and stir until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing out the top. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter before placing it in the oven.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Once baked, allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the remaining caramel sauce on top.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
