Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 1 lb Ground beef Ensure it's halal-certified
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1 large Egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure an even bake.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Add onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Cook until the beef is fully cooked (about 7-10 minutes). Drain any excess fat and cool slightly.
  • Once the beef has cooled a bit, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut them into squares (about 4 inches by 4 inches).
  • Place a tablespoon of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of each square.
  • Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling and pinch to seal tightly.
  • Beat an egg in a bowl and brush the tops of each pastry bomb with the egg wash.
  • Sprinkle the tops generously with grated Parmesan cheese and some additional garlic powder.
  • Place the bombs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed.
  • Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Leftover bombs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze uncooked bombs for up to 2 months. Reheat from frozen at 375°F for about 25-30 minutes.
