Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced Adjust according to taste.

For Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, yogurt, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Gradually add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of golf balls. Flatten each ball into a teardrop or oval shape using a rolling pin.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 1-2 minutes on each side until puffed and golden.
  • Brush with melted butter and sprinkle minced garlic on top while cooking.

Serving

  • Once cooked, sprinkle fresh cilantro over the naan and serve warm.

Notes

Be sure not to over-knead your dough for the best texture. Resting the dough is crucial for a fluffy naan. Ensure your skillet is hot enough for proper puffing, and feel free to add herbs for variation.
