  • 1 package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend)
  • 1 cup assorted diced vegetables (bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, etc.)
  • 1 cup cooked and diced protein (chicken, turkey, or beans)
  • 1-2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • as needed Olive oil or cooking spray for greasing

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
  • Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, aiming for about ¼ inch thickness.
  • Spread the shredded cheese evenly across the rolled-out dough, leaving a little space around the edges. Next, add your diced vegetables and protein on top, sprinkling Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over everything.
  • Starting at one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log shape, pinching the ends to seal.
  • Place your rolled Garbage Bread seam-side down on a greased baking sheet and brush the top with olive oil. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Once done, let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

Experiment with different fillings to customize your Garbage Bread. Keep an eye on the baking time, as ovens can vary. Wrap any leftovers in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to keep fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
