Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (use a Halal-friendly brand)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Peanut Butter Swirl

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
  • Crack in the eggs and add the vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  • Warm the peanut butter slightly in the microwave for about 15 seconds until it’s easily spreadable, then dollop it over the brownie layer.
  • Pour the rest of the batter on top and swirl it lightly with a knife to create a marbled effect.

Baking

  • Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center—if it comes out with a few moist crumbs, they’re done!

Cooling and Serving

  • Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing into squares.
  • Enjoy them warm with a scoop of ice cream or as-is!

Notes

Keep an eye on your brownies as they bake; every oven is different! They should be set around the edges but still soft in the middle. To enjoy leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
