  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • 4 large eggs Use large eggs for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Slowly mix in the cocoa powder until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition to ensure a silky texture.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour and salt until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container. They stay fresh at room temperature for up to 3 days, but refrigerating can extend their shelf life to about a week. For longer storage, freeze individually wrapped brownies for up to 3 months.
