  • ½ cup milk

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, whisking them together until evenly distributed.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and sugar until combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix!
  • Melt an additional ½ cup of butter in a large baking dish, tilting it to ensure it coats the bottom evenly.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot butter, making sure to leave some space between each biscuit.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the edges are crispy.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.

Notes

To maintain flakiness, use cold butter when mixing with dry ingredients. Experiment with flavors by adding herbs or cheese for savory biscuits or lemon zest for sweetness.
