  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

  • 2 cups frosting (various colors)
  • assorted small candies like jelly beans or chocolate eggs

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the vanilla extract and egg to the butter mixture, mixing until well incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix!

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
  • Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Decorating

  • Once cool, decorate the cookies with frosting in fun colors, using the frosting to create a basket-like pattern.
  • Top them with assorted candies to complete the festive look.

Notes

Chill the dough if it's too soft, experiment with toppings, and avoid overbaking. Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
