Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized russet potatoes, scrubbed clean
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sea salt, to taste

Toppings (optional)

  • Sour cream or plain yogurt
  • Shredded cheese (like cheddar or a dairy-free option)
  • Chives or green onions, finely chopped
  • Steamed vegetables
  • Grilled chicken or beans for added protein
  • Spicy sauces for a kick

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare the potatoes: Scrub the russet potatoes under cold running water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry using a kitchen towel.
  • Pierce the potatoes: Use a fork to poke several holes in each potato—this will allow steam to escape and prevent them from bursting while baking.
  • Season the potatoes: Rub each potato with olive oil, ensuring they’re evenly coated. Sprinkle a generous amount of sea salt all over.

Baking

  • Bake the potatoes: Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Bake for 45-60 minutes, depending on their size. They should be tender when pierced with a fork.

Serving

  • Serve and top: Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Slice each potato open, fluffing the insides with a fork. Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy immediately!

Notes

Choose uniform-sized potatoes for even cooking. Experiment with different toppings to suit your taste. Allow potatoes to cool slightly before serving for an easier topping experience.
