Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Use high-quality butter for best flavor.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar High-quality sugar will enhance the taste.
  • 0.25 cup light corn syrup
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Incorporate quickly after reaching the hard crack stage.

Optional Toppings

  • Chopped nuts (like almonds or pecans) Optional for added texture.
  • Chocolate (for drizzling) Melted for drizzling on top.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line a baking sheet (about 11x17 inches) with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Set it aside.
  • In a heavy-bottom saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter completely.

Cooking

  • Once melted, stir in the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and salt. Mix well until combined.
  • Use a candy thermometer to track the temperature. Keep stirring as the mixture heats up, and once it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), remove it from heat. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes.
  • Quickly stir in the vanilla extract and pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly.

Cooling

  • Allow the toffee to cool for about 5 minutes, then sprinkle with optional chopped nuts or drizzle with melted chocolate on top. Let it cool completely.

Serving

  • Once fully cooled, break the toffee into pieces and enjoy!
