  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (dry)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • Spread the chopped pecans evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  • Pour the dry cake mix evenly over the pecans.
  • Pour the butter mixture over the cake mix layer.

Baking

  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serving

  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Scoop out portions and serve warm for the best flavor experience.

Notes

For added flavor, consider topping with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. This dessert can also be made with chocolate cake mix instead of yellow cake mix for a different twist.
