  • ½ cup soy sauce Use low-sodium if preferred.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Boil the Eggs: Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce to low heat and let simmer for 6-7 minutes for soft-boiled or 8-10 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
  • Prepare the Marinade: While the eggs are cooking, mix the soy sauce, water, sesame oil, and sugar in a bowl until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Cool and Peel: Once the eggs are cooked to your liking, transfer them to an ice bath to cool down quickly for about 5-10 minutes. This makes peeling easier!
  • Marinate the Eggs: Carefully peel the eggs and place them directly into the marinade. Let them soak for at least 15 minutes for flavor, or refrigerate overnight for an even richer taste.
  • Serve: When ready, slice the eggs in half, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and enjoy your delicious Easy To Make Soy Sauce Eggs over rice or as a standalone dish.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute soy sauce with tamari sauce. The longer you marinate the eggs, the more flavor they absorb. To keep leftovers fresh, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
