Ingredients
  

Spices

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for heat

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, gather all the spices listed above.
  • Whisk them together until well combined. No clumps allowed!
  • Store the seasoning mix in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
  • When ready to use, brown 1 pound of ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  • Add in 2-3 tablespoons of the taco seasoning mix and ⅔ cup water to the beef.
  • Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and is fragrant.
  • Load up your taco shells with the seasoned beef and your favorite toppings!

Notes

Adjust the spice level according to your family’s preference; add more cayenne for those who love heat or omit it completely for a milder flavor. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 6 months.
