Ingredients
  

For the filling

  • 6 medium medium-sized apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a blend) Choose a combination of sweet and tart apples.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Classic spice for flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds brightness to the apples.

For the crumble topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats Gives a nice texture.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Adds sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened) Should be just incorporated, do not overmix.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples, then toss them in a bowl with cinnamon and lemon juice.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add in the softened butter and mix until crumbly.

Assembly

  • In a greased baking dish, place the apple mixture first, then sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the top is golden brown.
  • Let the crumble cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, choose the right combination of apples and avoid overmixing the crumble. Can be stored in the fridge for up to three days or frozen for two months.
