Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken Use leftover chicken for convenience.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning

Tortillas

  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas

Toppings (optional)

  • sour cream For serving.
  • guacamole For serving.
  • salsa For serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken, cheese, and taco seasoning. Mix until well combined.
  • Heat the tortillas in a pan briefly until they are pliable.

Assembly

  • Take a tortilla and place a generous spoonful of the chicken mixture at one end. Roll tightly and set seam-side down.
  • Repeat with remaining tortillas.

Cooking

  • Heat about 1 inch of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Carefully place the flautas seam-side down and fry until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  • Enjoy hot and crispy, garnished with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For extra crispy texture, flautas can also be baked at 425°F (220°C) for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
