Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley For garnish before serving.
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper

For Assembly

  • 1 jar marinara sauce (about 24 oz) Heated before assembly.
  • 4 to 6 pieces Sub rolls Depending on size.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  • Roll the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, approximately 1-inch in diameter, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes until browned and cooked through.

Assembly

  • In a small saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat until bubbling.
  • Slice the sub rolls lengthwise, without cutting all the way through.
  • Place a few meatballs into each roll, generously spoon marinara sauce over them, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Return the assembled subs to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot with extra marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

For the presentation, sprinkle additional parsley on top of the melted cheese. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze meatballs and sauce separately.
