Ingredients

Cheese Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Toppings

  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup toasted nuts (optional, for garnish)

For Serving

  • Assorted crackers or fresh veggie sticks For serving alongside the cheese ball

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded mozzarella. Use a fork or spatula to mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Fold in the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Scoop the mixture onto a large piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Use the wrap to help shape the mixture into a ball. Wrap it tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  • After chilling, unwrap the cheese ball and roll it in toasted nuts, if using, to create a crust, adding an extra layer of texture.
  • Place your cheese ball on a serving platter, alongside an assortment of crackers or fresh veggie sticks. Enjoy!

Notes

You can experiment with cheeses, such as incorporating feta for a tangy twist or adding sun-dried tomatoes for added flavor. For a smoother texture, blend all ingredients in a food processor before shaping the ball. Don’t skip the chilling step as it’s essential for firmness.
