  • 1 package cream cheese, softened Use 8 ounces
  • 1 cup sour cream Can substitute Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small can diced green chilies, drained Use 4 ounces
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • to taste diced scallions or chopped cilantro For topping

Preparation

  • Take the softened cream cheese and place it in a mixing bowl. If it’s not soft enough, microwave it for about 15 seconds.
  • Add the sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, diced green chilies, garlic powder, and onion powder to the bowl.
  • Use a hand mixer or a whisk to blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or pepper as desired.
  • Transfer the dip into a serving dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Before serving, garnish with fresh diced scallions or cilantro.

Notes

For best flavor, prepare the dip a few hours or a day ahead. Store in an airtight container for up to five days or freeze for up to two months. Avoid microwaving to maintain creaminess; let it come to room temperature instead.
