For the salad

  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz)
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 tub whipped topping (8 oz, such as Cool Whip)
  • 2 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 cup mini vanilla wafers or graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, like pecans or walnuts)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) for added flavor

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until the mixture thickens, which usually takes about 2-5 minutes.
  • Gently fold in the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until blended well.
  • Begin layering by adding half of the vanilla wafer crumbs or graham cracker crumbs at the bottom of a clear serving dish followed by half of the banana slices.
  • Pour half of the pudding mixture over the bananas, spreading it evenly to cover all the fruit.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining crumbs, bananas, and pudding mixture.
  • Cover the dish and place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld together.
  • Before serving, sprinkle any remaining crumbs on top along with any chopped nuts for extra texture.

Notes

For Halal-friendly version, ensure that whipped topping and pudding mix are non-Halal ingredients free. To prevent bananas from browning, slice right before serving or toss with lemon juice. A longer chill time enhances flavor.
