  • 2 pieces apples, peeled and diced Any variety suitable for baking.
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)

Baking Base

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter To be browned.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed.
  • 2 pieces eggs Large.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract recommended.
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a square baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it turns golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.

Mixing the Batter

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter and brown sugar; stir until well mixed.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and add the vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples and blueberries into the batter.

Baking

  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serve warm.

Notes

For toppings, drizzle with honey or serve with whipped cream. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
