  • 1 teaspoon sugar Helps activate the yeast.

Dough Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a small well in the center and add the frothy yeast mixture along with the olive oil.
  • Stir until a rough dough begins to form. If the dough seems sticky, add more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
  • Lightly flour a clean surface and pour the dough out. Knead it for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  • Once risen, gently punch it down to release air. Divide your dough to shape into pizzas, or keep it whole for a larger pie.
  • Flour your surface again and roll out the dough to your desired thickness.
  • Add your favorite toppings and bake at 475°F (245°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden and delicious.

Notes

For perfect results, don't skip the kneading, ensure your water is just warm, and feel free to experiment with different flours.
