Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (around 110°F / 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • additional optional powdered sugar for drizzling

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

Kneading

  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form into a ball and place in a greased bowl.
  • Cover with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, chopped strawberries, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.

Shaping the Rolls

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread the strawberry cheesecake mixture evenly across the dough.
  • Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 1-inch slices and arrange them in a greased baking dish, leaving some space in between.

Final Rise and Baking

  • Cover the dish with a towel and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes, until puffy.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.

Frosting

  • Once cooled, drizzle with additional powdered sugar mixed with a splash of milk, or enjoy plain!

Notes

If using frozen strawberries, ensure they are thawed and drained well. Timing during the rising phases is critical for achieving fluffiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
