Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 1 cup butter, melted Use unsalted butter for best results.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed brown sugar adds moisture.
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour Sifted to remove lumps.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

For the filling

  • 1 cup corn syrup Light or dark corn syrup can be used.
  • 4 large eggs Room temperature eggs work best.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract is recommended.
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped Freshly chopped pecans provide better flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by greasing it or lining with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Stir until well blended. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and corn syrup, followed by salt and flour. Stir until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped pecans, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the center is set and golden brown.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Enhance your bars with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or fresh berries. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
