Ingredients
  

Crust Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup pecan halves Use fresh pecans for the best texture.
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and salt.
  • Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  • Press this mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x9 inch baking pan, leveling it out evenly.
  • Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until it starts to get golden around the edges.

Filling & Baking

  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Stir in the pecan halves gently.
  • Once the crust is done and has cooled a bit, pour the pecan mixture over the crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Place the pan back in the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and not jiggly in the middle.

Cooling & Serving

  • Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool in the pan before slicing them into squares.
  • Serve with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
