For the tiramisu

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled Use strong coffee for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup amaretto liqueur Adds a nutty flavor.
  • 24 pieces ladyfinger cookies Opt for high-quality ladyfingers.
  • 2 cups mascarpone cheese Ensure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup heavy cream For whipping.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and sliced Adds fruity flavor and texture.
  • Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings for garnish Optional, for serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a shallow bowl, combine the cooled coffee and amaretto liqueur. Set it aside.
  • In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
  • In another bowl, fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream mixture until fully incorporated.

Assembly

  • Dip each ladyfinger briefly in the coffee mixture (do not soak).
  • In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over them, followed by half of the sliced cherries.
  • Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers, mascarpone, and cherries.
  • Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Serving

  • Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder or sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
  • Enjoy this delightful dessert cold!

Notes

Be gentle when folding the mascarpone into the whipped cream to maintain a light texture. Store leftovers tightly covered in the fridge for up to three days.
